About 100 Lights Farm

Two farms,
Growing good food!

We grow herbs, teas, vegetables, chicken and goats across two farms in Tigoni and Kongoni, and share it all from our kitchen table to yours. Our parents and forefathers have been cultivating food since our first memory. We are just doing the same things with better tools and better knowledge.

The story behind the name

Why 100 lights?

[Tell the story of the name here: who chose it, what the hundred lights are, and what it means to the family.]

Our two farms

Home base

Tigoni

Up in the Limuru highlands, Tigoni is where the herbs and tea blends grow, where every order is packed and collected, and where we will host the Supper Club, tea tastings and workshops.

The big fields

Kongoni

In the highlands of Kakamega, is the land of milk and honey. Literally our Ayshire Cattle, Galla Goats and Chickens are reared here as well as our delectable honey. Orders from Kongoni are collected at Tigoni.

How we grow

1

Feed the soil first

We enjoy good compost, high quality worm castings, rich chicken manure and rich biodiversity. Our worm farm turns kitchen and farm waste into castings that go back into every bed.

2

Grow for flavour

We pick varieties for taste and harvest them close to collection day, not for shelf life. We also make sure our seeds are robust and resilient to face most diseases.

3

Waste nothing

What we don’t sell feeds the worms, the hens or the compost, and comes back as next season’s soil. Our Bougie hens prefer strawberries if given a choice.

4

Grow with neighbours

Partner growers, local hands and local buyers: the farm is better when the community around it does well. We don’t grow everything but we know where to get the best produce.

The people behind it

A small team that plants, picks, packs and cooks. Say hello when you collect your order.

Friends of the farm

Some neighbours grow one crop better than anyone. We stock their harvest alongside ours, credit them on every product, and pay them fairly. [Confirm wording.]
